Responsibilities: The successful candidate will be responsible for a rating portfolio of Mexican regional and local governments and providing analytic support to senior analysts. Responsibilities include monitoring micro and macroeconomic trends in Mexico and abroad, analyzing government financial statements, monitoring developments in the financial markets, analyzing credit quality using quantitative methods and qualitative judgment, maintaining internal spreadsheets/databases and accumulating in-depth knowledge of the government sector in Mexico. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing close relationships with investors, intermediaries and issuers and be expected to communicate credit opinions through timely, high quality written research. Public speaking and travel are also expected.
Qualifications: This position will be of most interest to candidates with a strong background in economics and government finance, excellent research and communication skills, and most importantly, a keen interest in public finance issues facing Mexican governments. An advanced degree in economics, business, public finance, public administration or a related discipline is preferred. Excellent writing and presentation skills are necessary. Demonstrated quantitative aptitude and financial analytical ability are important. Fluency in English and Spanish is required.
